[Observium] SVN commit mail crashed our mail server

Hello,

the SVN commit mail from the observium-svn list yesterday (2015-06-04 16:46:51 +0200) crashed our mail server,
most likely because the subject was way too long. I don't know, what script/hook you are using, but the standard
in RFC 2822, section 2.1.1. states that

"Each line of characters MUST be no more than 998 characters, and SHOULD be no more than 78 characters, excluding
the CRLF"

The subject of said mail was way over 2000 characters. For now I unsubscribed from that list because I don't want to kill
e-mail for everybody in the office once in a while, but can you have a look into this issue and tell me when it is fixed,
so I can resubscribe?

Thanks,

Michael Weinrich

hem... ok what RFC says, and OK svn commit mail should respect rfcs, but
when I have a mda (or mta?) which crashes on longer than rfc-conform
lines, I will fix it as soon as possible (I'm open to a very sipmle DOS)
and not write it on public mailinglists untill it's fixed;

Point taken :)

Saying it crashed our mail server wasn't 100% correct, it just described it as easy as possible.
Nothing really crashed, we didn't lose any data and it was easily found and fixed (which we meanwhile did).
Next time I will wait until we fixed it, before writing such mails :-/

Include just first line, you still have full commit message in body anyway.

Crashes on overly-long input always make me turn a little pale, because
they're often a sign of a buffer-overrun code execution exploit waiting to
happen.
